Before you start
To complete your legal aid application you will need to have documents that apply to your income. Be sure to have the following documents ready before you start your application, as your progress may not be saved when you return:
- Bank statements
- Wage slips
- Student grant/loan letter
- Pension statements
- Tenancy/mortgage agreement
- Tax credit awards
- Letter from NASS or local authority stating asylum receives support (Immigration only)
Your earnings
To qualify for legal aid you must:
- have £8,000 or less in savings
- Earn £2,657 or less per month
or you can qualify to receive legal aid if you receive:
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related employment and support allowance (ESA)
- State pension
