Legal Aid Criminal Defence Solicitors

We will always try and secure legal aid for you, depending on the type of alleged offence. Some offences are only punishable by fine and are not imprisonable, therefore will not meet the requirements for legal aid. Our Legal Aid Criminal Defence Solicitor and Lawyers will advise you based on your individual circumstances whether legal aid can be obtained upon your initial enquiry.

Please be aware that legal aid may not be available to those who have committed an alleged offence in road traffic law, corporate crime, and regulatory offences, and is only available to individuals, not companies.

To qualify for legal aid, you will be tested on the merit of your case and your financial ability. Your Legal Aid Criminal Defence Solicitor will always apply for legal aid if there is a chance that you can qualify, and if successful will provide free legal advice and representation at the Magistrates and/or Crown Court. However, it is important to note that on occasions the Legal Aid Agency may expect you to contribute to any legal fees and disbursements.
