To qualify for legal aid you must:
- have £8,000 or less in savings
- Earn £2,657 or less per month
or you can qualify to receive legal aid if you receive:
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related employment and support allowance (ESA)
- State pension
Before your start
Please note that this online Legal Aid application is only available for matters involving family law. For matters involving criminal litigation or immigration, please contact our office. To complete your legal aid application you will need to have ready documents that apply to your income, proof of domestic violence and where you live. Additionally, be sure to have the following ready, as your progress may not be saved when you return:
- Proof of ID
- Bank statements
- Wage slips
- Student grant/loan letter
- Pension statements
- Tenancy/mortgage agreement
- Tax credit awards
