Established in 1990, we continue to provide quality legal services to both the local community and nationwide. Our History

Leonard & Swain 1990

Our story began on 1st April 1990. Specialising in all areas of litigation, the firm was unique in comparison to the then legal market offering general practice. The firm proudly offered legal practice in Civil Liberties, and group actions, including Medical Negligence, but also a wide range of other work. Our then offices’ in Southampton and Havant allowed the firm to forerun legal services in Childcare Law, Employment, Immigration, Family, Crime, Housing, Professional Misconduct, Judicial Review, and accident claims.

Leonard & Co 2002

Concentrating on the practice in Southampton, the firm continued with confidence in similar areas of law. With the community’s trust in Gary Leonard, Leonard & Co sustained its standing with clients and organisations. The firm grew in numbers, allowing us to take on more cases, and expand our reputation in the legal sector.

Leonard Cannings LLP 2016

A new partnership was formed on 1st April 2016 with Diana Canning, who specialised in family law. The firm practised in the areas of Family and Children, Criminal Defence, Housing, Immigration and Employment.

Leonard Solicitors LLP 2020

After Diana left the firm to pursue a career in government, Leonard Cannings became Leonard Solicitors. Although Gary Leonard is in retirement, our new partners, retained the well known and respected name as Leonard Solicitors. Our firm continues to provide quality advice and assistance with legal matters that involve Family Law, Immigration, Criminal Defence, Litigation, and now Residential Conveyancing.
