Criminal Lawyers for Serious & Common Crimes

Leonard Solicitors is a leading firm of Criminal Defence Solicitors, accredited under the Law Society’s Criminal Litigation Scheme with a reputation of delivering excellence to the Hampshire and wider community. We also are recognised as the top recommended criminal defence lawyers by Three Best Rated.

We have police station representatives available to assist you at short notice should you be arrested or invited to a voluntary interview. Should your case proceed to Court, we also have highly experienced advocates that can provide rigorous representation during criminal proceedings.

Our Criminal Legal Aid Solicitors have successfully worked on some of the most high-profile cases involving gross negligence manslaughter and drug charges. We provide reliable support on criminal offences from the outset, starting from receiving a summons or arrest to representation in Court.

Criminal Legal Aid Solicitors

Typically, those being prosecuted for serious and common crimes are likely to be served with a custodial sentence and therefore are likely to be granted legal aid unless the Legal Aid Agency deem that you can afford to pay for your own defence. We will always try and secure legal aid for you, depending on the type of alleged offence. Our criminal legal aid solicitors will advise you based on your individual circumstances whether legal aid can be obtained upon your initial enquiry.

Please be aware that legal aid may not be available to those who have committed an alleged offence in road traffic law, corporate crime, and regulatory offences, and is only available to individuals, not companies.

To qualify for legal aid, you will be tested on the merit of your case and your financial ability. Your Criminal Legal Aid Solicitor will always apply for legal aid if there is a chance that you can qualify, and if successful will provide free legal advice and representation at the Magistrates and/or Crown Court. However, it is important to note that on occasions the Legal Aid Agency may expect you to contribute to any legal fees and disbursements.
